About Watergaw Ceramics
Watergaw Ceramics was formed in 2000 when I had had finished my MA. Originally housed in a tiny studio (12ft x 12ft) in an old office block on Shore Lane in Aberdeen. It contained a wheel, a sink and a kiln. I found herself making pieces that I could fit into the space so when in 2002 the old Methodist Church came on the market, in the village that she now lived in, she jumped at the opportunity. Feeling very privileged to be in such an awe inspiring place all her friends and family (and the dog Fleck) were roped into turning it into a pottery and Gallery.

The first commission I gave myself was to change the old Chapel sign into a new one for my pottery
Church Sign
There were some interesting moments along the way - not least getting planning permission as clearly it had been a Church - eventually everyone was happy and the shop and pottery were born. There have been many changes over the years but at the end of the first Covid lockdown the Chapel got a make over and I learnt more than I ever wanted to, about scaffolding - but what views from the Roundels! I truly hadn't realised that nearly 18 years of firing had taken such a toll.
